Job Descriptions for Sports Education

Manager - This person must be fair and able to communicate and relate well with others, understand the idea of teamwork, speaks well of others, speaks in a polite and considerate way, makes frequent positive comments and exhibits good leadership and rational thinking skills.  The role of manager is to oversee all players on their team and be able to resolve any issues that may come up.


Head Coach - The head coach will be responsible for running practices for their team.  You will meet with Ms. Stacey in the beginning of class to get the play list.  You will then teach the plays and drills to your team members during practices.

Athletic Trainer - Responsible for leading the team through their warm-ups everyday.  The trainer must include jogging, stretching, upper body strength, and abdominal strength during the warm-up.

Equipment Manager - Responsible for making sure that their team has all the necessary equipment (balls, cones, pinnies, etc.) for practice everyday.  This person is also responsible for returning all the team's equipment at the end of practice.   

Scorekeeper/Statistician - Responsible for keeping score of the game as well and who has scored, how they scored, and where they scored a point.  You MUST report the score to Ms. Stacey after each game.  Failure to report the score will result with a score of a zero for your team, even if the game has been won.  *This is a non-playing position. 

Reporter - Responsible to watch and write up a brief summary about the game that has been played that day.  You must hand in your work to Ms. Stacey on the following day.  *This is a non-playing position.


PLAYING POSITIONS:
Quarterback - Responsible for throwing or running the ball up field.  The Quarterback throws to the receiver.

Linebacker - Defensive position. Responsible for covering players from getting to the ball and preventing the quarterback from running.

Offensive Line - They block the defensive line from getting to the quarterback.

Defensive Line - Responsible for getting to the quarterback.

Wide Receiver - Offensive position, responsible for catching the ball which was thrown from the quarterback.  

Corner - Defensive position, responsible for covering the receiver.
